Cigar cutter

A cigar cutter is a cutting device designed to cut one end off before it can be properly smoked. Some cigars are cut on both ends, or twirled at both ends, majority comes with one straight cut end . Most quality handmade cigars, regardless of shape, will have a cap where small pieces of a wrapper pasted on to one end with either a natural tobacco paste or a mixture of flour and water. The cap end of a cigar is a rounded end without the tobacco exposed, and this is the end one should always cut. The cap may be cut with a knife or bitten off, but if cut without care, the end of the cigar will no burn evenly and the desired smoke from the tobacco will be lost.

There are three basic types of cigar cutters:
• Straight cut
• Punch cut

• V-cut (notch cut, cat's eye, wedge cut, English cut)

In Russia, plain portable pocket- knife like, made of steel, was fabricated for the use of cigar-smokers,where we nowadays give an engraving.
It had the cutting strength of an ordinary knife, but the dsign was cattered to cut off the end of the a cigar. Later their designs are improved with a holder to act as cigar-cutter and holder. Other models with a small loop on one of the cutters allows it to be attached to the watch-chain at that time.
Danger of severe injury from a poorly handled cigar cutter is possible. It ca be used as aweapon to cut fingers during a battle of fights in the 1850's.
